Mt Hood 60 Inch Dec 2025 Post-Install

"This is a preliminary review given I bought and mounted my 60” Mt Hood in the dead of snowy Vermont winter 2025 - all I’ve done so far is a home shakedown. Pros: Materials and quality appear top notch. Exterior and interior finish are excellent and setup / teardown are easily accomplished in minutes. Nice mattress and plenty of storage. Heats quickly in winter with my diesel heater. Customer service has been helpful and friendly. Minor con: Last mile delivery was tricky with the delivery company refusing to send their 25 foot truck the last 400 feet up my driveway. This is, I believe a shipper specific issue and your experience may differ. We never entirely resolved this to my satisfaction and I had to make a 60 mile round trip for pickup and install. I’m happy so far. Will report back after my Speing 2026 trip when I’ve had some real experience."

Pure Quality.

"I just got this tent and had some friends help me install it, here's my initial impressions and thoughts. First, the packaging, and initial quality is off the charts. The nicely packaged components and tools make setting this up pretty easy. There's a 13mm ratcheting socket wrench to help install the bolts that saves a lot of time vs. non ratcheting. There's a set up guide which is really nice in quality, but wish it was more step by step, with best placements for latches, brackets, and spring rod mounts, but it's easy enough to fine tune on your own. There's only one ladder bracket set, and I wish they included more as I'd like to use the ladder on left and right side of the vehicle, so I'll just be ordering some. There's a very handy LED light bar on the top of the inside of the tent that uses USB. It's only white and on/off. Storage is plentiful. I was able to fit a quilt, and full size pillow inside, and still able to close the tent, so no problems with fitting sleeping stuff inside which IMO is a big reason to have a RTT. The gaskets around the tent are very beefy and looks to create a great seal. Closing the tent is also very easy with the elastic cord. 30 second deploy and stow. Latches are also very nice and work well. The yellow accents I actually really like, and give the tent a premium touch than just all black. The only 2 cons would be the #1 weight. It's heavy. We removed the mattress and everything inside to be able to lift it onto my GX. I would not attempt this with just 2 guys, but 3-4 ideally. #2 is that there is some comically loud wind noise. The O Rings for the shoe bag can whistle at certain speeds depending on their angle. I removed them and a lot of the noise mostly went away. I will try different angles of the o rings and see if I can remove that whistling noise while keeping them. No big deal though. Other than that, even with the weight it's hard to tell it's on top of my vehicle by driving impression. Lastly, i'm honestly glad I paid a premium for a premium tent. I was thinking about buying a used Mt. Hood, or even going for a budget RTT off amazon or something but decided that I would eventually regret that decision and wish I just spent a little more for a new high quality tent. I honestly found spending $3k+ for this tent was well worth it as the quality surpassed my expectations. Do it."
