Love the tent, but the annex is just poorly designed for the application. All comes down to the back wall, which faces the vehicle.

Here are my gripes, and they all relate to the design of the back wall (vehicle side) of the tent:

    1) The rear side attaches to the bottom of the RTT using the slide slot that the cover uses. So, all the enjoyment you had putting that on when you installed the tent, well now you get to enjoy taking off the cover, sliding in the even larger annex, taking off the annex, and sliding back in the cover. Each and every time you use the annex. If you are like me and think, “maybe I can just leave the annex on…”, no, you can’t.

    2) The rear door of the tent does not extend to the sides of the tent, so there might be a small vehicle that has a square rear end that would fit the annex, but the rear door flat out needs to be wider to be able to create the Double Decker Dirtbag Hilton I had envisioned. I would think this setup would be the primary function of the annex. Being able to cook out of the elements, leave the back of the truck open to either sleep or gear access. However, the designers had some other use or application in mind, which unfortunately falls flat on its face. As you can see, it is possible, but leaves a massive gap under the bumper, which would make using the floor impossible. Bringing me to my next point.

    3) The door zips from the bottom up. This makes sense on every other door, except this one. Every vehicle has a gap between the bottom of the car and the ground. IF the tent zipped down from the top it would be possible to seal the gap between the two and leave it open. I can’t imagine the scenario where someone would actually be walking through this door. Easy fix, but in my opinion it was just poorly thought out for the actual application.

I bought this tent back in late April after years of wanting one, it was everything i had imagined and more! I was extremely impressed with the quality of the material the tent and the annex room are made out of, they are super durable and thick! I chose this style tent for my dog so that the ladder was enclosed in the annex and he would be in the “same” room as us. It worked out perfect and he loves it! My girlfriend loves it as well, being able to change in private and go right up the ladder to bed. We have used the tent almost every weekend and love how fast it is to set up and put away! Going on 8 months now of owning the tent and its just as enjoyable to use as the first day we got it. I strongly recommend CVT, they are a great company and provide excellent customer service!

As Jonathan said, taking the cover off every time to use the annex room is a hassle… but CVT offers an add on channel that allows you to leave the cover on and slide the annex on and off.

This tent has been by far the best investment I have made on my truck . I’ve had my Mount bachelor tent for almost a year now, and not once second guessed it. Not to mention how amazing the structure holds up to my abuse on road and off. I took a trip this past summer from Southern California to Whistler Canada. This tent made it so convenient for my wife and I to hit the hay with only a couple minutes to set up.

The Mt. Bachelor is the best tent for 2. Plenty of room to stretch out on the big comfy memoryfoam mattress. My biggest regret was not purchasing this tent sooner. I’ve even recommended CVT to friends and family, a close friend purchased his right after me. Also my brother just hopped on board and purchased the Thielsen. Couldn’t ask for better customer service. If you want to start an adventure? Start it with a CVT Mt. Bachelor tent.

    “Welcome to the CVT family”

A great add to the kit, super sturdy camp is set in just a few mins. As said above the only problem is that I didn’t buy it sooner!
