Mt. Rainier Extended Stargazer Summit

(4 customer reviews)

The Mt. Rainier Extended Vestibule Summit is a 3+ person tent that gives you extra room inside your annex room as well as additional privacy and enclosed ladder.

The Summit Line version has an upgraded floor made with diamond plate honeycomb aluminum. The Fabric is a 380g compared to 280g on our standard Pioneer Series Tent. Straps on the cover are a cinch buckle versus Velcro on the Pioneer Series. The mattress comes with a waterproof mattress cover instead of cotton. The interior poles are material wrapped and the center pole has built in LED Lighting with on/off and dimmer switch as well as 2 USB ports. The telescoping ladder has a release on the face of the steps and bumper stops between each step.  All the plastic fittings have been upgraded to alloy (on hinges), D-rings are larger and Velcro is thicker. The rain fly is heavier with quick release buckles. The Summit Line tent also includes two shoe/storage bags, One Piece anti-condensation mat, two spreader poles to help keep the overhang taut, Annex, removable 6″ annex extension, and a removable PVC floor.

Really enjoy our tent! Wind snow hail rain and more rain, let’s say the weather in the northeast is not cooperating with my time off. This tent has handled it all like a champ. It’s easy to open and close the fabric is super thick and durable. I would definitely recommend one!

This tent is heavy duty, there is a HUGE difference between regular RTT`s and the Summit Series Tents. If you plan on using your tent, not just displaying it on your truck or SUV, then its worth the extra money. Most people disagree until they see the weight of the material and the extras that come with, YKK zippers, shoe holders, Led light that dims and more. Only had it 4 months, yet used it 8 to 10 times and will winter camp too. the Annex is the best part, you can put your stuff inside away from the elements and still set up a good size table and even a cot for extra sleeping. If you are only one nighting it, then its not worth setting up, if you are staying at camp 2 plus nights then its totally worth setting up Annex. We just camped in the backwoods of Banff in sub freeing temps -15c and were fine. It holds heat well and the condensation airs out quickly the next day. Its more Money than the Top end Tepui but its worth it with the Annex. I hope the stitching is as strong as it looks, as I would like to get a few years out of this tent for the money. So far customer service has been great!. If it holds up (which I think it will), then you have the best tent under 5k on the market hands down. (will re-review in 5 years and let you know lol)

Purchased a Mt. Ranier summit series RTT this past July and coudn’t be happier with it. Mounted this on a mid-height bed rack in my long bed Toyota Tacoma with ease. Tent is well-constructed and setup is a breeze, including the annex. I ended up buying last year’s model that doesn’t include the stargazer, however, it still has the heavy duty canvas and all the bells and whistles (anti-condensation mat, telescoping ladder, shoe bags, LED light bar, etc). This tent easily fits my family of 6! My wife and I up top, along with our little 3 and 6 year old. In the annex, my 13 and 16 year old kids sleep on two cots and we still have room for a port-a-potty and a few camp chairs. During one camping trip, the spot had tons of mosquitos, so my family of 6 moved our chairs in the annex and spent most of the evening in there, very comfortably. If you’re in the market for a 3+ tent, I highly recommend this tent. I even got the bright green against my gut and I’m super happy with it. Lastly, while the price may seem steep, you get a quality product with the best service around. Seriously, get this and you won’t regret it.

We purchased the Mt Rainier Extended Stargazer Summit at the Sportsmens Expo in Denver. It wasn’t only the tent we loved (I did a ton of research on rooftop tents before) but the customer service at CVT is top notch. We felt like we were part of the family from day one! We essentially chose this one because I’m a tall guy, at 6’9″ this tent works well for me – plus my wife and our golden retriever. As soon as we got the tent we went out winter camping and it was awesome! Easy to put up and down and well constructed, plus CVT has really thought of everything in terms of the small touches. We LOVE our tent. We did have a couple of parts break, but the team went over the top to send us repair items at no cost and with no wait. It’s a quality product from a quality team. Don’t hesitate to invest in a tent and get out there! Camp is where you park it.
